Astronomy The Science of the Heavenly Bodies eBook David Peck Todd Reviews

Interesting but dry. Really more of a history lesson of our understanding of astronomy / cosmology
ok
Not very scientific. Good history of astronomers.
The book is written in terms that I could understand, and even though I've been an astronomy fan all my life, I learned new things that I enjoyed. Great read!
Thorough and scholarly text book but the lack of illustrations or visual breaks make reading hard work. The constantly changing theories and discoveries in modern astrophysics have rendered the information and presentation style of this book obsolete,
An interesting if somewhat out-dated look at our night sky. But an enlightening look at the origins, of where many of our ideas come from.
I have interest in learning about the subject, but I felt my needs were not met. I found the historical aspects to be relevant. Is was also interesting to see how limited knowledge of outer space was before the Space Age.
I'm not an astronomer, but I do try to read up on when possible.
This book was written 100 years ago by the director of one of the leading observatories. It is very educational and very interesting. He explains many factors that are still prevalent today and talks about some of the great discoveries that science has built on in the last century. It was fascinating to see what they assumed about celestial object then and what we know about them today. Very entertaining read
