The Lure of the Labrador Wild eBook Dillon Wallace
At first I found the author's style to be too "high", but later on in the book, when the author found himself with nothing much to think about save the constant search for food, his style suited itself perfectly to the subject matter. Wallace carefully describes the ordeal of himself, Hubbard, and George, as they lose themselves in the Canadian wilderness and slowly starve. It seems as if Wallace put an extreme importance on accuracy in the depiction of his party's journey almost as an homage to Hubbard, who he evidently held in high esteem. This book is more a work of love than a work of accomplishment. It must have been emotionally excruciating to write, and it seems to me that Wallace is compelled to finish it as a monument to his friend and for his own burdened soul. This is unlike anything I have ever read in its raw experience of humanity on the edge of the shroud that separates the living from the dead.Product details

The Lure of the Labrador Wild eBook Dillon Wallace Reviews
Misadventure, hardship and suffering ... and a true story to boot! Highly recommended. Read also about the competitive expeditions of Wallace and Hubbard's wife to complete Leonidas Hubbard's original plan in 'The Long Labrador Trail' and 'A Woman's Way Through Unknown Labrador'.
Full of suspense, vivid description of a land so remote from humanity, the agony of total isolation, the despair of slow starvation, the bond, courage, perseverance displayed between the three guys shows the true value of humanity.
I so appreciated the story and the struggle. Tensions to the end. I felt the characters were portrayed with integrity.
I had a friend tell me about this book and now I have to find a way to pay him back. Really enjoyed this book from beginning to end, a really good read.
Excellent read! Could not put it down. I love these heroic accounts of survival and courage and friendship and faith
Gripping true story. Free ebook. What’s not to like?
They were very courageous men to attempt a journey through the wilderness of Labrador. I could imagine the spectacular views they beheld in early 1900's. I really enjoyed reading this book.
